A Letter From Our PTSO

Hello Litton families and friends,

This is Christine and Laura, Litton PTSO’s President and VP for the 23-24 school year. We’re so glad you’re a part of Litton’s lion pride this year! Litton is a special middle school; one we’ve chosen intentionally for our own children and one we are proud to serve as volunteer leaders. 

Not only is Litton a neighborhood school, it also is an MNPS Optional school open to all 6-8 grade students in the MNPS system. It’s the “All” that we are most proud of as parents and we take inclusion very seriously. Litton and its PTSO strives to be a community where each student and their families can find their place.

We will serve over 300 students for the 23-24 school year! We’ve earned bragging rights for our TN Reward school status in 21-22 and for officially earning a TN STEM School Designation from the TDOE for 22-27. We expect more awards to follow.

In 22-23 the ILMS PTSO managed an operating budget of nearly $35,000 and this year our budget is approaching $40K! With thoughtful oversight and intentional spending, we were able to support Litton Administration and staff in these efforts:

  • Rising 6th Grade Boot Camp Orientation

  • Back to School Block Party

  • EL Back to School Block Party at Berkley Hills 

  • Open House 

  • INVEST campaign fundraiser to support our yearly budget

  • Community Spirit Nights at East Nashville Beer Works, Mitchell’s Deli, and Rivergate Skate

  • College Week

  • Career Fair

  • Litton Live at Yazoo Brewing, our Fall concert fundraiser

  • Homecoming Week

  • Teacher Appreciation Week

  • Prospective Family/Dynasty Night

  • CELEBRATION DAY!!! - a fun, year end blowout for all students

  • Student incentives, pridewear sales, classroom support, band, sports, library, the list goes on…..

It is no small effort, and the impact on the students and teachers is enormous. If you’re new to the school, or if you’ve been around awhile and want to get more involved, the PTSO welcomes your involvement. 

We are at the school often and available to you in person and by email. We hope you reach out and introduce yourself at the next Litton event.
